Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 20, 2026

Daily Metta is built on a simple principle: your practice is yours. This policy explains how the app handles your data — and, more importantly, how it doesn't.

What Daily Metta stores

Daily Metta stores your journal entries, meditation sessions, recap summaries, and app preferences. All of this data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

iCloud sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your data is automatically backed up and synced across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit. This sync is managed entirely by Apple and is protected by your iCloud account credentials. Daily Metta does not operate any servers and has no access to your iCloud data.

AI-generated summaries

Monthly and annual recap summaries are generated using Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device AI framework. All processing happens locally on your device. Your journal entries are never sent to any external server, API, or third-party service for summary generation.

No account required

Daily Metta does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. There is no user registration of any kind.

No data collection

Daily Metta does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, no crash reporting. The app makes no network requests of its own — the only network activity is Apple's iCloud sync, which is controlled by your device settings.

No advertising

Daily Metta contains no advertisements and does not use any advertising frameworks or identifiers.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, Daily Metta writes mindfulness minutes from your meditation sessions to Apple Health. This data flows one way — from Daily Metta to Apple Health. Daily Metta does not read any data from Apple Health. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's Health settings.

Notifications

If you enable Daily Revisit or Practice Reminder notifications, the notification content (which may include text from your journal entries) is handled by Apple's notification system on your device. Notification content is not sent to any external service.

In-app purchases

Daily Metta offers optional support tiers (tips) through Apple's StoreKit. These transactions are processed entirely by Apple. Daily Metta does not receive or store any payment information.

Data export

You can export your journal entries as a CSV file at any time from the About screen in Settings. The exported file is shared using your device's standard share sheet — Daily Metta does not upload or transmit the file.

Data deletion

You can delete individual entries from the app at any time. To remove all data, delete the app from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, you may also need to remove Daily Metta data from your iCloud storage through your device settings.

Children's privacy

Daily Metta does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to use.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Since Daily Metta does not collect email addresses, we cannot notify you directly — please check this page periodically.
